ORGANIC MOLECULES, LIPIDS, AND CARBOHYDRATES
Biological molecules are considered to be organic molecules and some understanding of the chemical properties of carbon is important.
The following link has information that may be helpful to your understanding of organic chemistry.
Lipids are organic molecules that all cells are able to make and are found in all cells. Lipids have several important functions in our cells including 1) energy storage in case of "famine," 2) one of two types of molecules that form the basic structure of cellular membranes, and 3) hormone regulation in the form of steroids.

Carbohydrates are organic molecules that all cells are able to make and are found in all cells. For our discussions carbohydrates provide the primary energy source for our cells on a daily basis.
